🎉 The Role

We’re looking for a seasoned Ruby on Rails contractor with strong experience in Solidus, backend systems, and web performance monitoring. You'll own the code quality, performance, and stability of our production Rails app, working across our small, high-performing team to deliver and maintain long-term features and improvements.

You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Improving and maintaining the health and performance of our Rails application
• Implementing backend features and business logic, particularly around eCommerce flows
• Monitoring and improving site reliability and uptime
• Helping scope, manage, and document long-term platform initiatives
• Diagnosing and solving performance bottlenecks, scaling issues, and error patterns
• Leading and reviewing code quality standards, enforcing best practices, and maintaining test coverage across the codebase.
• Collaborating with frontend, design, and product teams to implement new features end-to-end, including monitoring performance of frontend code.

🧭 Ideal candidate

• Strong communication skills and ability to lead backend initiatives with autonomy
• 5+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails (Solidus/Spree experience a big plus)
• Experience ****with production Rails apps in cloud-hosted environments (Heroku)
• Experience with performance monitoring and error tracking tools (e.g., DataDog, Sentry)
• Bonus: Experience working in smaller teams or startups and wearing multiple hats
